Celebs who will be getting new stars in 2009 include, for movies: Cameron Diaz, Robert Downey Jr., Leslie Caron, Hugh Jackman, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes, William H. Macy, Charles Durning, and director Tim Burton, plus the Disney animated character Tinkerbell.; for TV, Desperate Housewives' Felicity Huffman, Full House's John Stamos, CSI's William Petersen, The Closer's Kyra Sedgwick, sitcom writer/producer Chuck Lorre, and Survivor producer Mark Burnett; for recording: Kenny "Baby Face" Edmonds, Shakira, Rush, The Miracles, The Village People, jazz saxophonist Dave Koz, and Universal Music CEO Doug Morris; and from radio, Bill Handel and Harry Shearer.

Hollywood walks all over one of primetime's biggest names.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation's William Petersen (Gil Grissom) is one of 25 celebrities who will be immortalized on the Walk of Fame next year. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's Walk of Fame Committee picked the recipients, and the board of directors ratified the list on Thursday. Also receiving a star next year is Chuck Lorre, executive producer and writer for the CBS comedy Two and a Half Men. Lorre took part in the writing crossover between Men and CSI, co-writing the CSI episode "Two and a Half Deaths".

Petersen will be honored with a star on the Walk of Fame, and his series has earned an honor of its own. While CSI failed to beat Desperate Housewives to become the best scripted show in America, the forensic drama holds the title of most popular series in the world. Nearly 84 million viewers tuned in during 2007, putting CSI ahead of spinoff CSI: Miami and FOX's House.

Desperate Housewives took the top spot among comedies with 61.5 million viewers. American Idol may be the most popular show in the United States overall, but it didn't place on the worldwide list because different versions are shown in different countries. The ratings firm Eurodata ranked the shows based on global numbers.

The news about the Walk of Fame is from The Associated Press. The Huffington Post had the information about the top shows in the world. Thanks to Shane from TalkCSI for the heads up on both news items.
